East Sussex Over 50s Show
Saturday 28th April 2012 and Sunday 29th April 2012 at the Winter Garden, Compton Street, Eastbourne, BN21 4BP.
It’s a cliché to say that ‘fifty is the new thirty’ but in many ways, it’s true. Fifty, sixty, seventy year olds and upwards live longer, healthier lives and expect far more from their time on earth than previous generations. Today's over 50s are discerning and street-wise. They are involved in every aspect of a rapidly-evolving society, and while future generations may struggle to make ends meet, many of today's over 50s enjoy a high level of disposable income – and are prepared to spend it.
A survey by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation revealed that two thirds of parents plan not to worry too much about leaving a legacy. They are 'skiing' – the acronym for those who are 'spending the kids' inheritance'. The East Sussex Over 50s Show is dedicated to this optimistic new breed of consumer.
The show is backed by the Eastbourne Herald and Observer Group of Newspapers, part of Johnston Press, one of the UK's leading newspaper groups.
The show is all about making the most of life and opportunity. And the 'grey pound' has considerable buying power. In 2008.
Entry at door £5, pre-booked £4,
concessions £4/£3
Look out for 2 for 1, and other special offers, in the Herald and Gazette.

The Big Lunch
The Big Lunch is a very simple idea from the Eden Project. The aim is to get as many people as possible across the whole of the UK to have lunch with their neighbours in a simple act of community, friendship and fun.
Last year on Sunday 5th June the best part of two million people took part. In 2012 The Big Lunch falls on the same weekend as The Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations, on Sunday 3rd June, and as announced by Buckingham Palace The Big Jubilee Lunch will be a part of the main programme of events over the central weekend of the Diamond Jubilee. A record number of people are expected to take part. Why not be one of them!
A Big Lunch can be anything from a few neighbours getting together in the garden or on the street, to a full blown street party with food, music and decoration that quite literally stops the traffic.
